Today marks Country Hipster’s 100th blog post. 1-0-0. I can hardly believe it!
I started this blog when I was in the middle of a gut-wrenching breakup. I literally got the idea when I was in my truck on my way to break up with my boyfriend. I needed something to take my mind off how heartbroken I was, so I figured a blog about cute cowboy boots was just as good as anything.
Part of me didn’t think Country Hipster would ever become a reality. Another part of me didn’t think I would keep it up for very long. And yet another part of me didn’t think anybody would ever read this dang thing. So it’s really strange to think that eight months after that horrifying day, I’m publishing my 100th blog post, I’ve built a decent little following, and I survived the hardest emotional challenge I’ve ever had to endure.
This blog really has helped heal my heart. And for that reason I will always, always, always be grateful to all the people who have supported me on this little journey.
With that being said, I know I’ve strayed a little bit from the original intent of this blog. Although I don’t regret writing and publishing any of my self care posts, I know they’ve kind of interfered with Country Hipster’s mission to show ladies everywhere just how fashion-forward and versatile cowgirl boots can be.
So, starting in October, I’ll be running a new website dedicated to self care, mental health, and all-around happiness! I’ll post links to it when it’s up and running, so stay tuned! :) And don’t worry. Country Hipster isn’t going anywhere.
With all THAT being said, I think it’s super fitting that today’s style challenge is titled “black to basics.” I really want to get back to the basics of this blog, so I think this challenge was the perfect way to refocus on cute boots and even cuter outfits!
Black to Basics
This black dress is my absolute favorite. It is comfortable, cute, flattering, and incredibly versatile. I’ve worn it with heels, Converse, and of course boots! 110% worth the $15 I paid for it.
For today’s outfit, I wanted to go for a tougher tomboy look. So I put on my trusty Carhartt vest, a few chunky accessories, and the most badass Corral boots I’ve ever seen.
I love this outfit. It somehow manages to be dressy, casual AND country all at once. You could wear it to work, church, school, or out on the town!
Details for today’s outfit:
- Black and white striped dress from Bella Ella Boutique, $14.99
- This vest is the Tomboy style by Carhartt, and to my heart’s dismay, it is no longer available (I really wanted it in cream and olive green, too). BUT I think the Berkley (89.99) would also look fabulous with this dress.
- Michael Kors black oversized watch from Nordstrom, $275
- Black pave link bracelet from Etsy, $24.99
- Corral Alamo boots from Buckle, $270
Again, thank you all SO MUCH for your support so far. This blog has grown so much more than I could have ever imagined, and I have loved connecting with so many cowboy boot enthusiasts! :) Here’s to the next 100 posts!
